To me forward controls are the stockers
Rear sets would be mounted near the pillion pegs.

But I could be wrong ....... I was once before

I presume that you are asking about extended forward controls like this Link . About 7 years ago I had a HD Deuce and I installed extended forward controls on it. I am fairly tall at about 6'3" and my legs were stretched out pretty far. It was comfortable to ride but handling wasn't the best. I wish the T-Bird was a little further out, but now that I added boards, I find it to be comfortable.

I think there is a German company doing them, I'm sure they have been done by someone here , can't remember who or the brand but I'm sure a google search would bring them up. They cost $$$$$$$ though.

I think you're talking about Raask. They have rearsets and some that move the standard controls a tad rearward, not forward. And from what I've seen on their site, EVERYTHING is expensive (they even have a 2-1 exhaust option).

Those turned out really nice. Did you have any issues with the rear brake master cylinder? You should consider making a few sets and selling them. I'm sure that there would definitely be some interest.

Cheer I'm pleased with the outcome.

Here is the brake side old & new.

No issues with the master cylinder, it is in the same position. I did need to make up a new brake lever assembly to maintain the relationship between the peg & the lever.

Really got to clean up my shed before I look at making any more, but if any one is keen get in touch.

Hey mate does this make a dramatic change to ground clearance / peg scraping? If so I'd think that every Tbird owner would want them including me. The peg scraping is one of the main problems for me with the Bird. A bloke I work with claims he has actually snapped 2 pegs off the storm previously. I reckon a nice black set would sell for all the storm owners out there. Did you use the old brackets and modify or make these from scratch? Cheers Dan

Tal there's a german company called RAASK that do forward controls for the Tbird, moves them 13cm or 21cm forward, they also do a speedo unit to move speedo up onto the bars .
Not a bad site --Link

Dan, yes it does seem to make a considerable difference. For example there is a roundabout I travel through regularly, I would almost always scrape the pegs through it. Now hardly ever do.
Both side plates and the brake lever assy are fabricated new from stainless stock, reuse the pegs, pins, springs & gear lever assy. The gear lever actuating rod on mine has been extended, I'd probably go for a whole new rod if I did it again.
Keeps all the parts standard if you ever wanted to remove them.

Mmmm sounds very interesting considering you can keep all standard parts and return to standard if required. I'm currently trying to sell my Bird to get a storm so if things pan out I would consider a set if you get around to knocking a few sets out. The only thing I am concerned about when moving my feet further forward is placing more pressure on my lower back. I love the controls where they are as you can take some of the weight with your legs but the pegs are just to close to the ground when cornering - particularly in roundabouts as you have stated. Anyway keep me in the loop. Cheers, Dan

I'm in the process of working out a set that are no further forward but 15-20 mm higher.

Peter comparing your before and after photo's, with the measurements supplied, lifting the pegs 15 to 20mm higher without any forward extending, should place the mounting position of the new peg in a similar height position, as your raised / extended pegs display . that is quite adequate, would not want to go any further up....

I wonder how would all them bits look if you could make them out of Brass? something that I was thinking about in bed
I could get the steam-punk theme happening on the Storm.
Then I started thinking about copper pipes and fittings..... didnt sleep much.
seeing the Mad Max bikes at the show last week musta triggered it

Derm, probably could be done, except for the brake lever, don't think it would be strong enough. Maybe brass plated.

I Had this forward control kit (13cm forward) fitted to my 1600 for a while.

I'm 6'2" and found it very comfortable but found on long rides I had knee pain (from a pre-existing injury) and ended up removing them and fitting floor boards which better supported my knee.

I would be willing to sell the kit if you are interested.
